How to Submit a Trip

Leaders who wish to submit a trip should enter it online in the AMC trip listing tool:

Log in to AMC trip listing tool

The ymtrips@yahoo.com email alias is no longer used to send in trip submissions. You may send questions about the trip submission process to this address, though. You need an account/password for the trip listing tool. Only YM leaders (not CLs) will be given an account. Contact ymtrips@yahoo.com to get an account.

To help facilitate the collection of trips each month, please follow the guidlines given below. This will help reduce the chance for errors and make the Trip Coordinator's job much easier.

Thanks for your help!

8 Steps to a successful YM trip submission

  1. Enter trip title without date. If this is a hiking trip, you must include the rating at the end of the title in paranthesis. Example: "Mt Moosilauke Upside-Down (B3A)"
  2. Enter date in the first set of month/day/year fields. The second set (the end date) updates automatically to the same value. If this is a day hike, you are done. If your trip is more than a day, modify the end date accordingly. Don't change the box in the middle that says "-through-".
  3. Enter trip description in the "Web Description" box. Do not include trip title, date or leader and contact info. Example: "We walk on our hands the steepest trail up to the summit of Moosilauke. 8 mi. RT w/ 3100 ft. elev. gain. Gloves required." If this trip is cross-listed with another committee, mention that in the first line of the trip description. e.g.: "Joint YM/HB trip". Use the abbreviations listed below.
  4. Decide whether you want/can list the trip in the Outdoors magazine. The deadline for that is mentioned at the very bottom of the trip submission page. If your trip submission is early enough to make it into the magazine, check "Magazine & Web" in the top right corner and copy&paste your Web Description into the "Magazine Description" box. Otherwise check "Website only". The choices you make here do not affect whether your trip will be listed in the Mud. All trips that make the Mud deadline (before the 25th of each month) are automatically submitted to the Mud.
  5. Give some extra information about where you are going and what you are doing by filling out the Region/State/Activity fields.
  6. Enter the name of all the leaders and co-leaders in the appropriate fields. When you want people to see their phone number and/or email, then enter that information and click the "Show Phone on Web"/"Show Email on Web" check boxes.
  7. Repeat name and contact info for the leader/co-leader doing the trip screening in the "Registrar Information" section. That person will later be shown on the YM trip listing page with "Reg. w/" prefixed to his/her name. Make sure to enter an email and/or phone number and check the "Show on Web" box for it.
  8. If you have your own Web page for the trip, you can enter its URL in the "web link(s)" box.

That’s all you need and should be entering. Your trip submission will be sent for review and approval.
