Policy for Conducting Leader Reviews
This leader review policy exists to ensure the safe and enjoyable recreation of AMC Young Members.
- All complaints regarding a leader must be forwarded to the Vice Chair, Leaders.
- The Vice Chair, Leaders must present all complaints to the YMSC.
- The YMSC must present the complaint(s) to the leader.
- The YMSC must present the Leader Review Policy (this policy) with the complaint.
- The leader must file a written response within 10 calendar days of presentation of a complaint.
- The YMSC has the right to honor the anonymity of any complainant.
- To conduct a review, the YMSC must have a physical meeting in which all members are present.
- The YMSC must have a majority vote to recommend one of the
following 3 options:
- No Action
- Issue a warning
- Revoke Leader Privileges
If no action is taken:
- The YMSC must notify the leader that no action has been taken.
If a warning is issued:
- The YMSC must notify the leader of the reasons for the warning.
- The YMSC must present the Leader Review Policy (this policy) with the warning.
- The warning recipient must provide poop sheets and participant and leader lists from the next two trips/events to the Vice Chair, Leaders within 10 days of the completion of the trip/event.
- The YMSC reserves the right to audit the next two trips led by the warning recipient.
If a leader is revoked of privileges:
- The YMSC must notify the leader in writing of the reasons for the revocation.
- The YMSC must present the Leader Review Policy (this policy) with the revocation of privileges.
- The revocation recipient must provide poop sheets and participant and leader lists for all future/planned trips to the Vice Chair, Leaders within 10 days of revocation of privileges.
- The former leader may reapply for leadership after 6 months through standard AMC YM procedure and must provide an explanation for the revocation.
