Leadership Training Grant Program

Who Qualifies?

Active YM leaders and co-leaders with valid AMC membership are eligible for the program. Trips should have been made in the previous 12 months or planned for the next few months.

What Qualifies for a Grant?

Grants are available for active leaders to do approved skills training. Approved trainings include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • AMC sponsored workshops such as map and compass
  • Leave No Trace (LNT)
  • National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) workshops
  • AMC Mountain Leadership School
  • Winter mountaineering workshops
  • Trail maintenance programs
  • Advanced Wilderness First Aid course, such as WFR and WEMT

How Much Money can a Leader be Reimbursed?

The YM Grants Committee will fund 50% of the training, up to $100 per program/person. Additional costs for gear, travel to and from programs, non-program meals etc. are the responsibility of the participant. A leader may use this in conjunction with other grants or scholarships as long as the total reimbursed monies do not exceed the expenses for the program.

What is the Application Process?

Please send the completed application (below) via email to ymTreasurer@amcboston.org to arrange for sending a copy of the receipt from the course and for the sending of your grant money (of course). Note: Some courses, especially AMC sponsored courses do not have formal receipts. Just be specific about the course in these cases.

If you are not sure that the course is appropriate to this grant program, please send questions to ymWFAcoordinator@amcboston.org or come to a Steering committee meeting.
