INTRO depends heavily on volunteers to provide trips and events. How can you help?
Each Spring and Fall, Boston
Chapter Committees sponsor wilderness first aid training weekends and run
trip leadership training programs. The trip leadership training programs
usually consist of two evening lectures and a weekend. This includes group
dynamics, trip management skills, and outdoor leadership skills.
When you graduate from a chapter-approved training program, you are an official co-leader. Right after leadership training, intercommittee trip planning potlucks are held for trip leaders and co-leaders. If you attend these events, you will find leaders looking for co-leaders. You are required to co-lead three trips for INTRO before applying for to be a leader. The committee will then check with the leaders who mentored you to determine if you should receive leadership status. If they feel you need more experience, you may be asked to co-lead a few more trips or take additional training. Once you are a leader, You can dream up all sorts of great trips and share them with our members. To find leadership training, check The Charles River MUD and the AMC Outdoors. How can you help at INTRO events? TOP When you see an INTRO event advertised, call the event coordinator and offer to help. We need volunteers at the registration table, to help set up, and to help clean up - a great way to get to know other members. How can you help on conservation and trails projects? TOP Register for these projects when they are advertised. Both the Conservation and Trails Partners Committees are small committees. When a project or event comes up, they need as many bodies as possible. Come and bring friends! How can you help on the INTRO Steering Committee? TOP Committee members are the
unsung heroes of the AMC.
