Forty Plus Committee is a committee of the Boston Chapter of the AMC. It is open to all who enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking, camping, biking, canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing, downhill and cross country skiing, local walks, and outdoor-oriented weekend trips.
Events are particularly aimed at active people over 40 who like to share these events with people around their own age. Many activities include a picnic, pot luck supper, or restaurant stop for socializing.
You can click on Activities to see the Forty Plus prior trips in 2007 and 2006. Forty Plus publishes most of their events in the Boston Chapter's Mud and the AMC Outdoors.
Forty Plus publishes a quarterly e-mail newsletter of scheduled events, which includes advance information on future, larger or longer trips. You can subscrbe to the newsletter by clicking on Newsletter
Effective April 1, 2007 or shortly thereafter, all FortyPlus Hiking and Biking activities will be listed on-line at AMC's on-line trip listing web site. You can search for activities of interest and even initiate the sign-up process right on line. To check out this new service, go to: http://trips.outdoors.org/ , drop down to the 'Committee' menu and click on 'Forty Plus'; then to the bottom of the page and click on 'Submit'. As you explore the capabilities of this page, you will find that you can also search for specific dates, specific areas, specific Chapters or committees. Since the site is relatively new, not all AMC activities are listed, so you should still check AMC publications, Outdoors and Mud for completeness. Check it out!
