E. Boston/Winthrop Where's Your Sweet Spot? Now, of course you might not want to tell... BUT, do you have a close-by place where you can "get away from it all?" The Boston Area is blessed by many such spots, whether they be DCR (formerly MDC) properties like the Esplanade or Blue Hills, or Mass Audubon or Trustees of Reservation properties like the Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary (Natick) or Noanet Woodlands (Dover). (I'm showing my Western Suburbs heritage here.) Perhaps it is on or along the water. Whether on foot, or in a boat, there are calm, relaxing spots in and around Boston. Here are just a few of our favorites. Please let us know what yours are (if you dare). We'll post them here. Send comments, and hopefully a photo or two to Steve Connors at conservation@amcboston.org
Of Course There's More to It Than That...Do you know of an Endangered Urban Eddy? If so, then we definitely would like to know. Can we help organize a clean up? Can we pester local and state officials? Can we call attention to it across the AMC? That is just one of the function of our "Critical Paths" section. Of course, there are many local "Friends of" and other organizations that look after many of special places. You can find many of them listed in our "Links" section. |
