Leadership Requirements

Becoming a Leader: Applying for Leadership Status

The Boston Chapter Bicycle Committee has developed the following policy in order to maintain an active leadership list and to encourage leaders to lead as many rides as possible.

To obtain leadership status with the Bicycle Committee one must have:

  1. current AMC membership
  2. attended Leadership Training by the AMC Boston Chapter or equivalent training approved by the Bicycle Committee.
  3. co-led at least two bicycle rides for the AMC with at least two different leaders
  4. submitted a letter or online application to the Bicycle Committee Chair requesting leadership status
  5. received a vote of approval from the Bicycle Committee*

In special cases that vary from the above requirements, one may petition the Bicycle Committee for leadership status

(*Between the May and September meetings, the approval process can be handled by email)

Maintaining Leadership Status

To maintain status as a bicycle leader or co-leader one needs to lead or co-lead at least one ride within a two-year period, have been an active member of the Bicycle Committee, or have worked on a Bicycle Committee special event.

Reinstatement to Leadership Status

To be reinstated to leadership status one must submit a request to the Bicycle Committee.
